Subject : Career Advice on SQL Accounting
May I introduce myself as Salami Adebayo Eromosele, I am a Nigerian and i work in the university of Benin Bursary dept (ledgers and final accounts unit) in which my position is an Accountant and a certificate in oracle, I am currently partaking a master in accounting.
My work description is reporting of final accounts and journal vouchers which includes the application of SQL in all my Jobs, my job enables me to Create simple accounting solutions using mainly ms access like an automated payroll management system, General Ledgers, JV analysis solution which are currently in use in my department all thanks to your journals my job has a proper direction and your write ups also helped me improve my skills while reporting, your write up convinced me that SQL is the only programming language that accounting can relate to and such techniques need to be learned more in accounting first degree programmes.
I am currently writing final project to convince my lecturers that SQL is an accounting language and that it should be taught more as a first degree standalone course on accounting data reporting not as a course under management information systems.
Thank you
Regards,
Salami Adebayo Eromosele

Subject : Purchase of your Books
Dear Derek,
I am an accountant by profession. I went into programming (Visual Basic) with the hope that when I know enough, I would develop an accounting software. When I thought I had known enough I just could not understand how to handle the debit and credit aspect in programming. I even had to order three books on how to develop accounting software using Vb6, VB.Net and ASP.Net. Unfortunately, the books contained very many mistakes and errors. Consequently, I could not come out with any software. I wrote the author about the errors, but he did not reply! The author is an Indian. Two years ago, I started learning Java.
Today, I decided to give up completely, but a miracle happened when I started surfing the internet; I came across your email address and information about your books.
Please kindly send me a list of your books with their prices on accounting software programming that will help me to develop an accounting software. I hope if I buy, you will kindly give a helping hand whenever I need you to explain certain areas I may not understand what to do. I am writing from Nigeria.
I am eagerly waiting to hear from you. Meanwhile, I have downloaded your Des Accounting Software to see how it works.
Yours sincerely,

Subject : Accounting Database Design
Hi Derek,
I just bought your eBook on Accounting Database Design as I was intrigued by somebody actually writing down the thought process on getting a core accounting database designed. However what I am missing a bit is an overview of what the final tables structures actually look like and what the relations are.
Would it be possible to send me an SQL table structure dump of the final result?

Subject : Your Purchased Accounting Database Design ebook
Thank you very for your books and if I had known that there are books like these I wouldn't have wasted money elsewhere, but all the same I will still prepare myself to buy this book(Accounting in SQL for NewBies). Although the first books that I bought gave me some knowledge in accounting database development but I thing I have now meet up with the right book. Keep it up and it will help you and these are the things we lack in Africa.

Richmond Debrah

Subject : Customer comments
Hello,
I just wanted to comment on your books. Recently I purchased both of them and to tell you the truth both of them are great despite the bed comments that you have received on amazon.
I think that you have written your book in a nice concept and indeed it is easy to understand it. I must tell you that there are better programming concepts to implement for most of the tasks. However, again it is a great book. Both of them.
They both teach you a lot and you can learn a lot from both.
Thanks,
Vancho Dimitrov
===================================================================================================Subject : Your Accounting DB Design & TSQL book
Hi Derek:,
Congratulations on your book! I ordered it through Amazon and have read a couple of chapters. The T SQL queries alone are worth many times more than the price of the book. I have worked with the Solomon database and have a fair grasp of how accounting db's work, have written and run routine queries but never could figure out how to do something as complex as a trial balance or the financial statements. There is not a lot of information out there, so your book is very helpful.
That being said, I am sorry to say it is very hard to read because the English used contains lots of errors in grammar and syntax, so there are many typos. It doesn't bother me really, but I think it will limit your audience and maybe hurt your reviews for an otherwise very helpful book. Your website has similar problems. If you want someone to help you proof this book or your other larger book, or the website I can help. I think this would make the book much more readable. Please let me know if I might assist you.
Also, I am very interested in writing a complete book on building accounting dbs, but I would need a model. Would it be possible to use your accounting db as an example? I would only want to write about the modules, tables and the various triggers and stored procedures, not the coding or architecture. I could recast it as an Access db for example but follow your design for tables and transaction processing. I want to do this partially for my own understanding as well because I would like to work as an accounting DB consultant at some point. I'm also working on my CPA as well.
Thanks for a great book, I am so glad you wrote it. Please let me know what you think about the proofing and the proposed db book project, when you get a chance.
Best regards,
Mike Georges
